Aernout Mik, Shifting Sitting, on Re-enactments, 2009
This April the 2009 Master of Arts Collaborative of the San Francisco Art Institute will debut In Anticipation; a multi-sited project featuring works by Elizabeth Axtman, Fang Lu, Jillian McDonald, Aernout Mik and Kamau Amu Patton. Each artist was invited to submit a multimedia proposal for an unrealized work engaging the theme of anticipation.[i[In Anticipation explores the provocative ideas presented in each artist proposal and is a social platform for the viewer’s imagination and participation.
Dynamic Website
The central location of the project is the web site, http://www.in-anticipation.com. The web site launch on April 28 will contain each artist’s proposal, project description, and further information to enrich the viewing experience. This dynamic site provides an accessible and multifaceted space in which to explore these conceptually-driven projects by each regionally and internationally renowned artist investigating interrelated sub-themes of anticipation including: Question of Truth, Friction, Metamorphosis, Re-enactment, and Alternate Realities.
Live Event
On April 28, the proposals will be celebrated at a highly anticipated evening of artistic exploration with a live performance by Kamau Amu Patton, video works and multi-media presentations of the artist proposals, and libations. This social affair purposes to support and highlight the two other project sites - the website and a limited edition poster collection - in a real time setting.
Live Event: Tuesday, April 28, 2009
Time: 6 PM- 9 PM
Location: New Langton Arts
1246 Folsom Street
San Francisco, CA.94103
Limited Edition Posters
To compliment the proposals, each of the artists has created a limited edition poster. This remarkable poster collection will be available to the public at the April 28 event! Each poster will also be presented on the In Anticipation website.
