Daylighted, a new gallery based in San Francisco, is looking for submissions from emerging and mid-career artists for a new survey of contemporary Bay Area abstraction. Bay Area fine artists working in all 2D media are welcome to submit their work.

About the exhibition:
Contemporary abstraction draws from an ever-growing number of divergent sources: cultural histories, methods of investigation, and strategies for interpretation. This exhibition will examine how these and other influences help form a recognizable Bay Area sensibility.

This exhibition will link contemporary abstraction to local investigations into (but not limited to):
- the Bay's particular geography and marine landscape
- differentiation of local cultures of the cities that line the Bay
- the unique history of art movements centered in the Bay Area

Eligibility & Terms :
- Artists working in all 2D media are welcome to apply.
- Artists may submit up to 5 images.
- All artworks in the exhibition must be available for sale.
- Artists selected for the exhibition will be those living or working in the greater San Francisco Bay Area.

Fees:
- There is no fee to submit or exhibit

- 5pm January 25, 2015

- Send an email with "Bay Area Abstraction Submission" as the subject line to matt@day-lighted.com
Your email must include:
1. CV (required) and artist statement (optional) pasted into the body of your email.
2. Up to 5 images (300dpi or greater) attached to your email. The filename for each image must be unique and include the artist's name. The exhibition will be curated from images received in the open call. For this reason, please do not send detail shots or installation views.
3. A list of filenames, titles, media, dimensions, date of work, and pricing for each image included in the body of your email.
- All artists will be notified of the exhibition selection and details by 5pm, January 30.

All submissions we receive will be considered both for this exhibition and also for future exhibitions with Daylighted.

Daylighted is a new gallery based in San Francisco that exhibits and sells art in non-traditional venues. We work with businesses and public spaces to exhibit art in more places people go. Our exhibitions take place on custom built, high resolution, color corrected digital screens.
