Patty Chang was born in San Leandro, California, in 1972 and currently resides in Brooklyn, NY and Los Angeles, CA. She attended the University of California in San Diego and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1994. Her work has been exhibited nationwide and internationally at such institutions as the Guggenheim Museum, New York, NY; Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, CA; Deste Foundation Center for Contemporary Art in Athens, Greece; the Fri-Art Centre d’Art Contemporain Kunsthalle, Fribourg, Switzerland; the Hamburg Kunstverein in Germany and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid, Spain. She was commissioned to make an artwork by Three M Project, a collaboration between three Museums, the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York, the UCLA Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. She was nominated for the Hugo Boss Prize in 2008.
