We operate all year-round welcoming artists of all ages and nationalities. Resident artists are at various stages in their careers and work in any media; including drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, film, video, new media, installation, fiction and nonfiction writing, poetry, dance, music ( there is a restored organ available in the church), interdisciplinary, design and architecture. Our facilities are well equipped for exhibitions, open studios, lectures, conferences, seminars, workshops, video and film projection.
Our mission is to encourage the mobility of artists interested in exploring their ideas in a well appointed studio far from home.
The Chianti-area with its dense concentration of vineyards, olive groves, old farmhouses, vegetable gardens, orchards, hilltop cypresses, terraced slopes and wooded valleys remains the definitive embodiment of the idea of the Tuscan landscape offering a picturesque frame for your memorable art residency.
The area provides an endless range of interesting things to see and do.
For those interested in architecture and history – or simply picturesque views – the main sights in the area of Chianti to the east of Greve among the Chianti hills and the slopes of the Val D’Arno are the innumerable castles and tower house. Florence and Siena are right next door!
Our location is truly unique in the area, in which the residents find a space to pursue work , taking full advantage of the rich cultural backdrop offered by the ancient place and its surroundings and of course Italy’s rich cultural heritage. This is a magical place and the images on a website cannot truly communicate the look, feel, and spirit of this place. All artists who have been here have a great memory of their experience.
