Art Center Nabi, a specialized institution for Media Arts, showcases new experience and communication with Hangul (the Korean character) and new media. is on view from October 7th through November 18th.
▲The section shows aesthetic approaches of Hangul- which comprises works that show typography and visualization of Hangul. Included are of Jung Hun Lee that is to deliever essence and beauty of Hangul. ▲ Sound art works that attempt rhythmical aspects of Hangul are on view at the section. Included are , a co-project of concrete poetry writer Won Koh and artist Jihoon Byun, video istallation by Kye Ryoon Han. ▲ The section shows works of interactive storytelling and communication that emphasize semantic appearances of Hangul. Included are works by Lisa Lee trying new approaches in storytelling through daily activities such as using chopsticks and hair brushing.Artist Seung Kwan No presented signboard abstracted installation that utilized moving Hangul fonts.
The opening reception on October 7th showed performance of the MilMul Modern Dance Company that beautifully expressed visual figures of 24 vowels and consonants in Hangul, the Korean Alphabet, with body movements. Also Hangul VJing performance of Sakgayo showed fading boundaries away in rhythm, color and thinking among the power of letters inwriting, seeing and remembering.
