We're looking to recruit a research associate for the final phase (8 months) of a European software development project, and to explore avenues for continued collaboration beyond that period via other bids and projects in the pipeline at present. Newcastle University?s Culture Lab is looking to extend its existing Research staff by taking on a Research Assistant / Research Associate to work on its 6th Framework European Project INSCAPE (http://inscapers.com /). The project focus is on the development of a tool for interactive story telling for creative people, and candidates are sought with the skills to develop and implement interactive stories in one of the domains of Live Performance, Education, Scientific Communication or Cultural Heritage for the purpose of validating and demonstrating the tool.

You should be educated to postgraduate level and be able to demonstrate creative ability and experience in the requisite techniques and tools associated with either 2D or 3D interactive authoring as well as experience working with one or all of the above domains. The proposed position, funded by the European Framework programme until August 2008, provides opportunities for the successful candidate to integrate with Culture Lab?s growing interdisciplinary research community by contributing to publication and dissemination activity as well as developing his/ her individual research endeavours to secure funded development perspectives.
