After a dynamic artistic career already recognized by numerous prizes, collective exhibitions and participations to festivals both in France and abroad, this first solo exhibition invites us to a dive in the heart of the minimal and radical work of the artist Antoine Schmitt, who draws his energy from an endless exploration of the origin of movement.
Under the title “objet petit a” — a formula by Jacques Lacan related to the pulsion to act, the exhibition proposes a selection of old and new artworks, sometimes audio, interactive or generative, which all use a new material, programming, to build semi-autonomous shapes which confront themselves to the spectator in a singular behavior. As usual, time and sensation are at the heart of this work…
Numeriscausa has been supporting the work of Antoine Schmitt for almost three years. This first exhibition is strongly inscribed in the artistic intentions of the gallery, which, through a questioning of art and technology, asserts its filiation with minimal, conceptual and kinetic art.
