The 2012 FotoWeek DC International Awards Competition will recognize and honor extraordinary work in photography from all over the world. FotoWeek DC, a 501© 3 non-profit organization, is committed to raising awareness of the power of photography everywhere, in all its forms. Now in its fifth year, the FotoWeek DC International Awards Competition continues to innovate and find new ways to engage photographers around the world.
Entries will be judged in 13 separate categories. Images created via any form of photography will be accepted for consideration (film, digital, mobile phone, and alternatives processes), but must be submitted electronically.
A distinguished panel of judges will select outstanding work that will be announced and recognized just before the official start of FotoWeek DC so that the winners can be celebrated all week long. The winning images from each of the categories will be shown online and exhibited during FotoWeek 2012.
Fees
Single Image: $30, Portfolio Entry: $95, Multimedia Entry: $45, Student Portfolio Entry (3-9 images): $45
Eligibility
Photographers worldwide may enter the FotoWeek DC International Awards Competition. All entrants must be 18 or older as of the final deadline of the competition. Students who are enrolled in an accredited academic program and who are 18 years of age at the final deadline are also eligible to enter the Student Portfolio category. All works must have been created within the last five years.

Awards
Cash prizes totaling $26,000. Winning images will be exhibited and/or projected during FotoWeek DC, November 9-18 along with great online exposure.
The People's Choice Award Prizes:
One free FotoPage Annual Subscription for each winning photographer and online exposure through a top 20 feature on FotoDC.org's People's Choice Gallery.
Considerations
Winners will be notified by email on or about October 8, 2012. Further information about preparing files for exhibition will be included in the acceptance message. In order for winning selections to be included in the exhibition, high-res files must be submitted by 11:59 PM PST on October 15, 2012.
Evaluation Criteria
Your entries will be judged by a distinguished panel of industry experts, who will select the top 3 winners in each category. Now, by voting in the People's Choice category, your friends and fans will have a say too. The top 20 images with the most number of votes across all of the categories will win extra recognition, and will be seen by an even broader audience.
