Who: Chicago Sinfonietta
What: Poster Contest – Chicago Sinfonietta is looking for talented artists to create a commemorative poster that generates excitement and captures the spirit of the organization
When: Contest starts now! Contest closes on Tuesday, September 4, 5:00PM CST
Where: City of Chicago
Why: Chicago Sinfonietta honors diversity with its orchestra members, repertoire, and audience. In this way it seeks to be truly reflective of the many communities that call the Chicago area home. The Sinfonietta is ushering new change and welcomes a refreshing look to celebrate our 25th Anniversary year during our 2012-2013 season.
Founded by pioneering African American conductor Paul Freeman in 1987, the orchestra is firmly grounded in the classical tradition and performs these masterworks at a high artistic level, yet at the same time presents new and undiscovered works, in the process expanding the orchestral repertoire. Maestro Freeman remained its Music Director until his retirement in 2011, passing the baton to the current Music Director, Taiwan-born Mei-Ann Chen. We are looking for a dynamic and compelling image that visually translates the Chicago Sinfonietta and our innovative spirit, not only in sound but in presentation, placing classical music in multi-discipline contexts for a unique audience experience.
