440 Gallery is hosting "From Mice to Monsters: Illustrations for Children." This juried theme exhibition will feature children's book illustrations, published or unpublished, and any work which focuses on children as an audience. The exhibition will run Thursday, June 28th, through Sunday, July 22, 2012.
The juror for "From Mice to Monsters: Illustrations for Children" is Buket Erdogan. Buket has illustrated children's books for Orchard Books, Simon and Schuster, and Harper Collins. Three of Buket's "Mouse's First" series were New York Times Best Sellers. In addition to her book illustration, Buket worked as an artist for several children's fashion companies, including the Children's Apparel Network where her characters and prints were produced for private collections and sold in major retail outlets including K-mart and Kids-R-Us; and for private labels, such as Disney, Sesame Street and Barbie. She also designed for the Children's Apparel Network's own label, Nanette, which sells at Macy's.
