'Confrontation Line' is an interactive computer and sound installation
for a darkened physical space. It deals with the relationships between
space, time and conflict. It is an experience of motion and position in
space in relation to cultural and visual perceptions.
'Confrontation Line' is about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. But it's
also about the 'paradox of culture', the rhetoric of witnessing, the
media, the process of photography, and above all, it is an attempt for a
dialog with Derrida's non-concept of 'Differance'.
'Confrontation Line' consists rotating still images that are projected
on the projection screen from the PC. Images render according to motions
and positions of observers in the space. This way the images reflect the
observer's movement.
'Confrontation Line' is design to create an experience of frustration,
since no matter where you stand, you can't get the complete picture:
when you are too far, your perspective allows you to see the whole image
but you can't see since it is too out of focus, and when you are too
close, the image is focused but you can't see it since you too close to
the screen to view the whole projection area.
