SOHO20 Chelsea Gallery is now
accepting proposals for an exhibition to be held January 3 – January 28,
2012. Artists and curators are invited to submit ideas for exhibitions
on any theme, concept, or interest.
 

ABOUT: One proposal will be selected by P.P.O.W. gallery director Jamie Sterns
and by the SOHO20 board based on the quality of artists to be exhibited
as well as the originality and contemporary relevance of the curatorial
concept.

The exhibition will take place January 3 – January 28, 2012 at SOHO20
Chelsea Gallery utilizing all three exhibition spaces at the gallery.
The gallery features more than 1,200 sq. ft of exhibition space and more
than 200 feet of running wall space.
 
 
 
  
  
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
SOHO20 Chelsea will pay for the printing of up to 1000 showcard
invitations as well as an opening reception that will take place on
January 5th, 6-8pm.
 

The applicant for the selected proposal is responsible for the
delivery and pick up of all artwork during the specified times as well
as the installation and deinstallation of art work.  SOHO20 Chelsea will
be able to provide 2-3 volunteers for assistance with installation
and/or deinstallation if necessary.
 

Proposals may include changes to the gallery space, i.e. painting
walls, physical modifications etc.  with the understanding that the
gallery must be returned to its original state within 12 hours of the
end of the exhibition.  SOHO20 has a very limited amount of hardware and
supplies so curators must provide any tools, hardware or special
equipment needed for installation.  SOHO20 Chelsea is able to store most
packing materials for the duration of the exhibition.  Any packing
material that will not fit into gallery storage is the responsibility of
the curator and must be dealt with accordingly.  SOHO20 is not
responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged artwork or packaging/crates.
 

ELIGIBILITY:  Open to any artist or curator’s proposal for
exhibition. Both men and women are encouraged to apply.  At least half
of exhibiting artists should be women. Must include a minimum of three
artists.
 

TO APPLY:  Please include a written proposal that details the concept
and/or theme of your proposal.  Please include the names and a brief
bio of artists to be exhibited.  Applicants should include up to 6
images as samples of work to be exhibited.  There is a $35 application
fee.  Deadline is October 29th at midnight.  A winner will be
announced within 2 weeks of the deadline. Email notifications will be
sent out to all applicants.
