The MBC (Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation) Daejeon Geumgang Fine Art Competition, one of the nation's reputable art competitions encourages and support talented artists.

1. Exhibition Dates: November 4, 2011 - November 16, 2011
(The artworks will be exhibited separately based upon mediums)

2. Qualifications: Artists over 19 years old can apply regardless of nationality


3. How to Apply: Application form, photographs or images of artworks and application fee should be submitted

4. Required size for artworks:

For Phase One: Submission for images of artworks

a) Painting, Prints
-Either send Photographs (5 x 7 inches) or Upload the images of artwork in JPG or PDS file at www.webhard.co.kr

b) New Media Artwork
-Upload the artworks in JPG file at www.webhard.co.kr with the web address
*International applicants can email to gold1004tv@naver.com for the questions about uploading files.
-Applicants should upload the artworks at www.youtube.com or www.vimeo.com first and provide web address when you apply
-For single channel video works, it should be shorter than five minutes long
-In case the video work is longer than five minutes long, the applicant should submit two versions of the artwork: a shorter version which is maximum five minutes long and the original artworks

*If the artworks do not meet the requirements for size, they will be withdrawn from the competition without a notice

For Phase Two: Submission of artworks
a) Korean/Western Painting: 30 Ho (91.0cm x 72.7cm) ~ 60 Ho(130.3cm x 97cm) (Korean size for paintings)(Glass, acrylic and vinyl should not be used for mounting)
b) Prints: As long as the work stays within the whole paper is fine

c) New Media: CD/DVD
For JPG or Video: HD-Quicktime(H.264 Codec)
SD-Quicktime or Avi(DV NTSC Codec)

How to Apply
1) Download the application form at www.tjmbc.co.kr and fill the form out
2) Submit the application form in person at reception/information area at MBC, Daejeon or mail the application form to the address under the submission section below
3) Dates for submitting the application form: September 1 - October 5, 2011

2) Deadline for Phase Two:
October 14 - 15, 2011 (10:00~17:00)
*No use of glass
*If the artwork is not same as the images submitted during the Phase One, the artwork will be withdrawn from the competition without a notice

4) Number of artworks:
Applicants can submit one to three artworks

5) Application Fee:
For one artwork: 50,000 Won (45 USD)
For two artworks: 80,000 Won
For three artworks: 110,000 Won

7. Invited Artist Program
1) Qualifications:
The Artist who fulfills the qualifications below will have opportunities to present his or her artworks at the Geumgang Fine Art Exhibition and a special exhibition as an invited artist after the year he or she meets the requirements

-The artist with more than four 'Special Awards' (For the artist who has won the First Place Winner, Second Place, or Third Place before, one of those awards will be counted as same as two 'Special Awards'
-The artist with more than four 'Special Awards' (For the artist who has won 'Special Award' more than 2 times, three 'Selected Awards' will be counted as same as one 'Special Awards')
-The artist with more than 15 'Selected Awards'
