Allentown Pa has a Hackerspace!
Hive4A, a hackerspace initiative sponsered by the city of Allentown Pennsylvania in conjunction with the DaVinci Center is looking for interested Artists to establish a Residency program where a group of makers/artists can create a work for public exhibition. Groups and individuals are invited to submit proposals for a stay of 3-6 months and longer.
Room/Board is provided, you will have access to the Hive4A facilities located at Bridgeworks, housed in a former Mack Truck factory site. We also have a computer lab, classrooms, gallery and shared/private studios to suit your needs. An exhibition will be planned for fall/winter and we have many sites designated within the city itself for installation based work.
Studios, both work and live/work will be made available based on merit and need.Residencies may vary from 2 months to one year.Minimum of 20 working hours per week will be required.
Artists in residence will have:
from 300 to 6000 sf
24 hour access to studios
Loading docks and freight elevators
Artists’ studio visit with nationally and internationally exhibiting artists
On-site Material for the Arts
A short (half page to one page) letter of interest stating need and focus of work while in residence
preferred dates of residency
