CANAL BOAT

AND
is working in partnership with the British Waterways to pilot an artists
residency programme on the Canals of the Northwest of England. This residency
offers a unique opportunity for an artist to be in residence on a canal boat on
and around the Lancashire and Liverpool waterways. The aim of the programme is
to offer an artist or group of artists a dedicated period of time to develop
research or a project in this unique habitat, question how to be resident on
the waterways.
The

period of time to develop research or a project in this unique habitat. AND are seeking applications from

could be further developed for the AND Festival in 2012.
PARTICIAPTION:
Resident
artists are expected to do this through engaging collaboratively and creatively
with waterways users and the partner organisation staff. The programme will
provide a number platforms and opportunities for the artists to engage with the

Rochdale Canal Festival will take place from 13 – 28 August and the resident
artists will be expected to engage with some of the festival activities on the
waterways.
The AND festival will take place in Liverpool
on 29 September to 2 October, the selected artists will be expected to be
present (physically or via the web) and engage with the festival activities.
Also
the selected artists will be expected to deliver at least one activity that is
open to the public, for example a workshop or presentation of work in progress
or research.
The selected artists will be expected make
their residency activity open to audiences online, for examples via a blog.
