The West Virginia Filmmakers Festival is launching its 2011 Call
for Entries, inviting filmmakers around the world to submit feature
films, documentaries, shorts, animation and experimental works. The
festival will run September 28 – October 2 at the Landmark Studio
for the Arts and the Elk Theater in historic Sutton, WV. deadline
for submission is August 1, with an extended deadline of August 15.
Cash prizes will be awarded in the following categories:
Narrative Feature, $200
Narrative Short, $200
Documentary Feature, $200
Documentary Short, $200
Student Film, $100
Out-Of-Towners, 200$
Experimental/Music Video/Animation. $100
Additionally, accepted films will be eligible for Audience Awards,
and Best Film, worth $500.
Filmmakers will be notified of their acceptance status by
September 15.

GUIDELINES
Submissions must contain: entry form, full payment, preview
screener. Entry fees must be paid via check or money order made
out to “West Virginia Filmmakers Guild”. Students must also
include proof of student status at the time of production in the form
of a photocopied student ID. Incomplete submissions will not be
processed or considered.

Films must be submitted on a single DVD (NTSC Region 0 or 1 ONLY)
or via a secure online screener.
Films not in English must include English subtitles.
The cost of shipping an entry must be paid by the entrant. DVD
screeners will not be returned.
If a film is accepted, press materials for the film will be
required, which can include but may not be limited to:
high-resolution publicity stills, filmmaker bio, or online trailer.
The Virginia Filmmakers Festival does NOT offer “notes” or
specific critique of any films not accepted for exhibition, and
reserves the right to turn down any submission without explanation or
justification.
