MATA Festival and Sound Installation

MATA presents its 10th annual festival of new music and installations by emerging artists, taking place March 31 to April 4th at the Brooklyn Lyceum (227 4th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY). The 2008 MATA festival features a collaboration with the Diapason Gallery for Sound Art, and will present a sound installation that runs for the length of the festival including works by Micah Silver, Lief Enge, Michael Schumacher, Marina Rosenfeld and many others. Admission to the installation is free.

On Thursday, April 3 at 7 pm, MATA will host Christoph Cox, editor of the groundbreaking book Audio Culture. Cox will present a free lecture on relevant topics in sound art and the relationship between music and noise.

The festival also features live performances by the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, The Knights Chamber Orchestra, Newspeak, Either/Or and Symbol, a group devoted to electronic music and improvisation.
