“Ways and Means” Exhibition Features Work by 24 Emerging Artists

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, March 10, 2008—"Ways and Means" (WAM) an exhibition featuring 24 emerging Bay Area artists, will be on view from April 18 to May 2, 2008, at 938 Howard Street, in San Francisco's South of Market area. Funding and production of "WAM" has been independently resourced by the group, almost all of whom are master's candidates at San Francisco Art Institute.

"Ways and Means" is one solution to the question: “How do emerging artists … emerge?” In this case, the answer lies with the artists themselves. The show is built from the ground up and centers on an idea of artist as medium. In this idea, the exhibition framework is the means by which the artists grease the wheels of their own emergence. "WAM" is a strategy of artistic passage.

"WAM" is located at 938 Howard Street two blocks south of Market Street between 5th and 6th Streets. Gallery hours are 12pm-6pm daily. Limited street parking is available. Garage parking is also available nearby at San Francisco Center (5th Street) and at the Moscone Center (4th Street).
