"…glaring honesty and a wry sense of self aware humor."
-Terri Roberts, BACKSTAGEWEST on 'Under It All' 2001

Off the heels of their last full length work, the sweet, yet
ever-complicated "The MOM Show"; the women of Toxic Shock Stage are excited
to present their newest work, the sweet, yet ever-complicated, "The SEX
Show". Committed to creating a new original voice for women on the
contemporary stage, TSS makes their Highways debut with this evening of
dance, poetry and music interwoven to reveal a tapestry of expressive
stories and images that will make you want more. A spanking-new original
ensemble production investigating, musing and loving (with a neo-feminist
twist) the art of sex. Their goal is to enlighten, inspire, invigorate and
of course, entertain with the stories only they can tell…in bed.
Toxic Shock Stage spends anywhere from six months to a year conceiving,
researching, and writing their unique theatrical endeavors. Although the
stories are specific to women, their discoveries are universal and touch a
broad spectrum of society. TSS uses only female technicians, designers,
directors, musicians, videographers, and writers. Men are used solely as
actors. As performers their various influences range from Shakespeare to
Sheppard, cabaret to stage combat, Groundlings improv to Graham and almost
everything in-between. They continually tap their psyches and scrape their
imaginations' darkest corners to bring out novel matte works of truth.
