Children’s Concert: MATT MEHLAN + DORON SADJA
2:00-3:00pm
Shinkoyo: Experimental Art Collective, record label, digital archive, and performance space/gallery (ParisLondonWestNile) founders Matt Mehlan and Doron Sadja present the FreeMusic FunHouse, an all ages, extraordinary extravaganza of wacky sounds, experimental video clones, Frankenstein instruments, and guests galore! Matt and Doron will lead the group in a free multimedia improvisation, discuss why music is fun, free and easy, and teach all in attendance how to use everyday items to annoy your parents.
SHINKOYO is an Art Collective, Record Label, Free Online Archive, and an all ages, donation-based Performance space (under the name ParisLondonWestNile). Located underneath the Williamsburg Bridge in the historic Domino Sugar Factory, PLWN is Brooklyn’s premiere venue for experimental music, performance art, and culinary adventures. In February, Shinkoyo/PLWN will celebrate the opening of its new art gallery, a new donation based approach to mp3 sales, and an expanded archive of live concerts and other free goodies! For More info on Shinkoyo, go to www.shinkoyo.com (site still under construction, beware!)
MATT MEHLAN was born in 1982. His band Skeletons releases music via Shinkoyo and the Ghostly International label and has toured this big country extensively. Their most recent LP "Lucas" has been described as “resolutely fantastical" by the Wire and "the underground sound of 2009" by Dazed and Confused. Matt also plays music with the Uumans ensemble and Cyrus Pireh, makes videos and television programs, and co-curates the Bee's Nest monthly at Zebulon in Brooklyn. Skeletons can be found in Europe this Spring on their first tour overseas. For More info on Matt Mehlan, go to www.skeletons.tv
