Show Description
The Downtown Denver
Partnership and Denver Theatre
District is pleased to announce an open call for video artists for
"Frame of Mind," a
showcase of digital media presented in conjunction with Create Denver in downtown Denver on May 13th, 2011.
Artist may submit original motion-based works of between 15
to 60 seconds. All works must be
formatted to the specifications of the outdoor LED screen located at the corner
of 14th and Champa Street in downtown Denver as provided below. Artists may
submit variations of a work in different lengths; 15 second works might have
the opportunity to continue screening on the LED for a period of time following
the event. Content will be judged
according to overall artistic merits, uniqueness and application to the
architectural and public nature of the LED screen site. At present, the LED does not
accommodate sound; works that have soundtracks are acceptable and encouraged
though artists must acknowledge that sound may not be part of the final
presentation.
Select works will be screened on May 13th during the
one-night program "MASS MEDIA:
Seeing, Making, Mapping" presented in conjunction with Create Denver, a week-long celebration
of the arts and creative community in Denver. This program will be one of the focal celebrations of the
week, consisting of a symposium on digital media, a VIP reception, screening of
select "I Create Denver" videos on the outdoor LED commissioned by
the Denver Office of Cultural Affairs,
video mapping projections on surrounding buildings also commissioned by the
Denver Office of Cultural Affairs, and works juried through this call for
entries.
The Outdoor Art
Gallery is a central component to the Denver Theatre District's mission to
activate the most exciting blocks of downtown Denver through the arts. A massive visual feast that changes
throughout the year, the gallery is the first of its kind in the U.S.,
providing a direct link to the robust art community growing in Denver. The Downtown
Denver Partnership is an integral component in supporting the DTD mission
and artistic programs.
